A Note From Laurel
In 2019, I woke up to a Maine that looked very different from the place where I was born and raised. The state I love had become a place where the government gets to decide how everyday Mainers should live. Like so many of you, though I care deeply about the future of our state, I didn’t know where to start.
So I got involved in grassroots movements, discovered how powerful citizen engagement can be, and in 2020 ran for State Representative. I am now serving my third term, still working to bring your voice to Augusta.
Through it all, one truth stood out clear as day:
When everyday Mainers step up, our state can change for the better.
That’s why I founded Lead Maine. We’re here to educate, equip, and empower Mainers to speak up and take action. Our vision is simple: a Maine whose citizens are informed, empowered, and engaged to shape a government that protects liberty, upholds conservative values and policies, and fosters economic prosperity for generations to come.
This is our home. Our future. Our Maine.
Let’s Lead Maine — together.

When everyday Mainers step up, our state changes for the better.
Donate now and join the movement to Lead Maine forward. Every dollar makes a difference!

Laurel Libby
Executive Director
Laurel Libby is currently serving her third term as State Representative, representing North Auburn and Minot. In February 2025, Laurel was stripped of her voice and vote for speaking up regarding a biological male winning a girls’ state championship in Maine. Her vote was restored in a historic Supreme Court ruling, and she remains the leading voice in Maine advocating for the rights of women and girls.
Motivated by firsthand experience with government overreach and the silencing of dissenting voices, Laurel founded Lead Maine to educate, empower, and engage everyday Mainers to speak up and take action on the issues that affect their families and communities. Through Lead Maine, she is committed to building a citizen-led movement that advances conservative values, protects individual liberty, and drives long-term societal and electoral change across the state.
Laurel earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Roberts Wesleyan College in Rochester, New York. Her career experience includes working as an ICU nurse at Maine Medical Center in Portland and at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center in Lewiston. She also served as a member of the MA-1 DMAT team, with hurricane response deployments to Florida and Puerto Rico.
Laurel and her husband, John, have five children. In her free time, she enjoys running, reading, and game nights with family and friends.
